My husband ...I wish I could answer your questions! My husband and son are doing all of the butchering, and this is their first time doing it. In the past we have taken our meat to a butcher, but we can't afford to do that...plus we are trying to be more and more self-sufficient. I will chat with hubby sometime soon and ask him about the curing, and let you know!Country Mamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17523298450290610856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3606564805373660914.post-8136388935138563912012-10-29T15:43:56.546-07:002012-10-29T15:43:56.546-07:00Thank you, Beth! I was ALWAYS cold, so this is such a huge change and a blessing!Country Mamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17523298450290610856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3606564805373660914.post-9408838500845618082012-10-29T10:50:06.899-07:002012-10-29T10:50:06.899-07:00So glad to be seeing you around again. Your stove...So glad to be seeing you around again. Your stove sounds wonderful. I have been praying to be able to afford one this year but doesn't look like it will happen. We do have central heat, but it is so expensive that we keep the house about 63 and we are NOT warm. Just a note that your fudge looks delicious. I hope your little business is successful. Our garden is gone also, but my canning jars are full and so is the freezer, we are blessed.Bethnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3606564805373660914.post-54615784765342399182012-10-27T07:11:43.789-07:002012-10-27T07:11:43.789-07:00Hey there! Are you all doing the butchering yourse...Hey there! Are you all doing the butchering yourselves? If so what are your plans for curing hams and bacon. We have never butchered out our own, but looking to start doing it so I would love hear all about it and if you are salt curing or sugar curing.

I still have a few things in the ground, hoping they made it through this freeze, they are covered so I guess we shall see.

I can so relate to the warm house. We have central heat this year, first time in 4 years. We have the fireplace, but it just doesn't keep all the rooms warm, so we are enjoying our central heat and the wonderful even temp of the house. Of course the wood is the back up if needed. So glad things are at least a little better for you!The Homestead Ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17111680238499268430noreply@blogger.com
